Forward to victory over cerebral palsy!
Bogdan is now 2 years old. He was born prematurely weighing 1250 grams. He was in intensive care for two months. After a while, parents saw that their son was developing very slowly, could not hold his head, and had movement disorders. Doctors diagnosed cerebral palsy and delayed psycho-development.
Last year our massage therapist, Natasha, worked with Bogdan. Step by step, he received four ten-day courses of massage therapy and rehabilitation. After the first course of massage treatment, Bogdan began to hold his head better and pushed himself up with his hands.
After the second course, he began to roll from side to side and reach forward. The third course brought new achievements; Bogdan got on his hands and knees, staying in this pose for three minutes. The fit-ball (stability ball) exercises help him improve his vestibular apparatus.
He can stand on his feet, but he is a bit wobbly. Bogdan has the potential to walk independently, but needs to learn to maintain balance. Natasha continues to help him develop and succeed through massage treatment, acupuncture, vibration stimulation, physical activity, muscle myostimulation, manual therapy, and fit-ball.
At home, his parents also help Bogdan to continue developing the skills that Natasha improved within him.
This month, our Mission purchased a walker for Bogdan that wraps around behind him. It is an effective rehabilitation tool that will support his back and prevent the walker from tipping over. This will help Bogdan feel confident when he walks. This will help him learn how to walk and allow him to play with other children and participate in daily life. It will be a great experience for Bogdan!
