One Hour at a Time. One Day at a Time
Many parents of children with severe disabilities discover: progress can be painfully slow. Yet slow progress is still progress—and sometimes what seems like a small change is actually a tremendous achievement.
Your Support Is Helping Vlad See the World Differently!
September marks new beginnings for many of us. Children head back to school, routines change, and we look ahead with renewed energy.
But for some of the children served through MUCH’s massage therapy program, life is measured differently—not by school years or seasons, but by the day, and sometimes by the hour.
Their parents provide care around the clock, doing everything possible to give their children the best quality of life they can.
Vlad is one of those children.
Vlad is three years old and has cerebral palsy. His condition is severe. When MUCH first became involved, he was unable to support his head when upright and had very limited mobility. His parents were searching for anything that might help their son.
They soon learned something that many parents of children with severe disabilities discover: progress can be painfully slow.
Yet slow progress is still progress—and sometimes what seems like a small change is actually a tremendous achievement.

A New Perspective
Thanks to our generous sponsors, MUCH purchased a standing frame (verticalizer) for Vlad to use at home.
The standing frame safely supports his body while allowing him to experience the world from three positions. Horizontal, vertical, and a seated position. This provides support for Vlad’s body all day. It also gives his muscles a chance to work in ways that are difficult when he cannot stand or sit independently.
But perhaps the most important change is something we can see:
- Vlad is now holding his head up.
His doctor has noticed that his muscles have strengthened, particularly in his neck and shoulders. He can hold his head up longer, giving him a whole new perspective on the world around him.
He can interact more easily with his parents and experience his surroundings in completely different ways.
Massage Makes a Difference
Vlad’s progress isn’t the result of one type of treatment. It comes from comprehensive care—rehabilitation specialists, massage therapy, home exercises, and his parents’ dedication.
His massage therapist, Inna, works regularly with Vlad’s muscles, helping relieve spasticity, maintain muscle tone, and provide relaxation.
At first, massage was simply another therapy. Now, Vlad has become accustomed to it—and actually enjoys it. It helps him relax and sleep better while supporting the work being done through his other therapies.
The standing frame also lets his parents keep working with him at home between therapy sessions.
For a child with a severe disability, these small, consistent efforts can add up to something extraordinary.
The Gift of Time and Patience
Children with conditions like Vlad’s often require therapy for many years. Families may spend their savings searching for treatments and hoping for quick results.
- But there are rarely quick results
- Instead, there are small victories
- A little more muscle strength.
- A little longer holding his head up.
- A more restful night’s sleep.
- A chance to see the world from a new perspective.
- And sometimes, those small victories are huge achievements.
Vlad’s parents are deeply grateful to Inna for the therapeutic massage she provides and to the sponsors who made it possible to purchase the standing frame.
And we are grateful to you!
Your support makes it possible for MUCH to walk alongside families like Vlad’s—not promising instant solutions, but providing something equally important:
- Hope, help, and someone willing to keep going with them.
- One hour at a time.
- One day at a time.
- One small victory at a time.
Thank you for helping MUCH bring hope to children and families who need it most.
